Half double (US) or half treble (UK) crochet stitch

As usual, I will be using the US terms as they make more sense to me. But the half double crochet (hdc) and the half treble crochet (htr) is the same stitch. And it's good to know that it will differ depending on who wrote the pattern.


Anyway, to make a half double crochet stitch, you start with bringing the yarn over the crochet needle so you have two loops on the needle (counting the one you started with.


Insert the needle through the stitch loops, pick up the yarn (yarn over needle) and pull through. You now have three loops on the needle.


Bring the yarn over the needle (making it four loops) and pull the new loop through the rest until that's the only loop left on the needle.
