If you're like me and somehow lose all your dice, or if you want to decorate your car (still don't know why that started), you can crochet your own. And they are quite quick to make, so as long as you realise you need then the day before, you should be fine.
There is more than one way to crochet dice, so I have created patterns for two different: one with 3D pips and one with flat pips (totally did not google what the dots are called…). They are both made with a crochet needle size 3 mm and measure about 4 cm or 1,5 inches.
Pattern for dice with 3D pips
This pattern is super easy, but more time-consuming as you need to sew more.
Side pieces
Start by make a foundation chain with 11 stitches.
Row 1: Start in the second stitch from the needle and make 10 single crochet stitches (sc) [10]
Row 2-10: Turning stitch (a chain stitch), then 10 sc [10]
Weave in the ends on the back (the front side is the one with 5 even double-rows).
Make 6.
Pips
Make 2 chain stitches. Then make 4 sc in the second stitch from the needle. Close the circle with a slip stitch in the first sc.
Make 21.
Assembly
Attach all the pips to the sides. If you need, there are pictures below on where to place the pips. Each pip should cover about 4 stitches (2x2).
If you want perfectly flat sides, iron on interfacing to the backs of the sides. Use the thickest you can find, and add a second layer if the first isn't enough. Make the interfacing pieces a little bit smaller than the sides of the die so that you can sew along the edges.
Next, sew the sides together. Rotate the direction of the sides as the foundation chain can make the bottom a little shorter than the top of the piece, and by rotating, the cube will get a better shape.
Add the stuffing before sewing the last side closed. If you added interfacing, you don't want to add too much stuffing as that will push out the sides. If you didn't add interfacing, you will need more stuffing for the die to keep its shape.
Pattern for dice with flat pips
This pattern is a bit quicker to make, but the pips have a less perfect shape (I think that's charming though).
Side pieces
The shape is the same for the sides, but you will need to change colours according to the images below. You will crochet all even rows (2, 4, and 6) from the front, which is important to remember as you want all the ends on the back of the side pieces.

Placement of the pips
All the sides are 10 stitches wide and 10 stitches tall. Each square represents a stitch.
