These cute Easter eggs are a simple way to create your own Easter decorations. It's an opportunity to use up yarn leftovers, or you can pick a colour scheme and make matching eggs, while still being creative with the designs. The design options are almost endless, but here are several different eggs if you prefer to copy a design.
While creating the pattern, I did struggle a bit with the perfect egg shape, as real eggs are a lot rounder than what my memory told me. Anyway, couldn't really decide between two shape, so I will give you the patterns for both and you can make your favourite.
The blue egg is the rounder shape, while the white egg is the more pointy shape. Both are 18 rounds tall, which means that you have 18 rounds for patterns. If you need an uneven number for the design you want, just add or remove a round from the middle.
Patterns
The eggs are made with a crochet needle size 3 mm and measure little over 5 cm or 2 inches tall.
Rounder eggs
Use any colours you want to add stripes or other patterns, or leave plain. You can also add embroidery afterwards.
Begin with 2 chain stitches.
Round 1: Make 6 single crochet stitches (sc) in the second chain stitch from the needle. [6]
Round 2: Increase (inc) 6 times [12]
Round 3: *1 sc, 1 inc* 6 times [18]
Round 4: *2 sc, 1 inc* 6 times [24]
Round 5: *3 sc, 1 inc* 6 times [30]
Round 6-12: 30 sc [30] (optional to add or remove one round if your selected design needs an uneven number of rounds)
Round 13: *3 sc, 1 decrease (dec, two together)*6 times [24]
Round 14: 24 sc [24]
Round 15: *2 sc, 1 dec* 6 times [18]
Round 16: 18 sc [18]
Depending on your preference, start adding stuffing now, or wait until you only have 12 stitches.
Round 17: *1 sc, 1 dec* 6 times [12]
Round 18: Decrease 6 times [6]
Finish with a slip stitch and weave in the end of the yarn.

Tip!
If you want to hang the eggs, take some sewing thread, pick up two of the yarn loops from the last round, and tie a knot to close the loop.
Decorative embroidery
If you want, you can decorate your eggs with embroidery afterwards. I find this the easiest to do once the egg is finished, but you can do it before adding the stuffing too. For these eggs, I opted to use the same kind of yarn as I used for the eggs, and added simple lines and shapes. You can also use proper embroider yarn for more intricate designs.
Tip 1!
Make sure not to pull the embroidery yarn too tight, as that may affect the shape of the egg.
Tip 2!
You do not need the secure the ends of the embroidery yarn. Start and finish by pulling the yarn through the egg and the stuffing. That will be enough to keep it in place, unless you're actively trying to unravel the embroidery.
Tip 3!
There are two options for embroidered circles. Either leave the ends (on the left) or close the circle with a long stitch (on the right).
