This duck blankie is a cute gift for a baby, and it's easy to make too. If you haven't made a granny square before, you may want to check out my tutorial.
Pattern
Size and colours are of course up to you, but I used a crochet needle size 3. The blanket measures about 21 cm or little over 8 inches. The duck is about 4 cm or 1.5 inches.
Blanket
Make a granny square, with double (treble for UK) crochet stitches in clusters of three and two chain stitches for the corners.
The blanket is made with 15 rounds, but if you want to make another pattern for the stripes, you can also increase to 16 rounds. The stripes are as follow:
Round 1-2: Yellow
Round 3: White
Round 4-5: Orange
Round 6: White
Round 7-8: Pink
Round 9: White
Round 10-11: Purple
Round 12: White
Round 13-14: Blue
Round 15: White*
*For the last round, you can make frills. To do that, you add a slip stitch between the clusters (use the stitch loops for the slip stitches) and increase to 4 double crochet stitches for the cluster. Replace the corners with 7 double crochet stitches. See tutorial video below.
